6 Months

We have been living in Mexico six months now. It's a different life for sure. I never would have guessed that life would lead me to Mexico of all places. Up until just a few years ago I never even wanted to visit Mexico. I had never even been to Mexico until we moved here lol. 
Things I miss most from the US are friends, the PNW, Made in China products, and a good steak. Mexico has amazing food on every corner but we just have not been able to find a decent steak, it's crazy! 

Also Mexico is loud, finding a quiet moment out here just isn't a thing. But strangely I'm good with it. The loud ass birds, the barking dogs, the 24/7 rowdy ass chickens, the vato blasting his 80s hip hop in his parked car, the mariachi band playing all day at the restaurant across the street, its all part of beautiful Mexico! 
I've also discovered learning Spanish isn't as easy as I thought it would be, but I'm trying. I hate being the brown person that doesn't speak Spanish. And honestly they don't love me being the brown person who doesn't speak Spanish either. The people here are very kind, but some of them really just don't like me when they discover my Spanish is very limited. 
We've learned a lot in six months. Don't drink the water! Be cautious of the ice when eating out. Always have extra water on hand. Always eat before going out for the day, or you will pass the fuck out. Hydrate Hydrate Hydrate! Greet people, don't be a jerk! Buenos Dias, Buenos Tardes, Buenos Noches! The sand is too hot for doggie paws! Street dogs are sweet, but a few will be jerks. Decline the conversion rate at ATMs. Geckos scream! Never leave food out. Food trash goes in the freezer until it goes outside. Never trust a fart to just be a fart! Keep electronics in the coolest/driest room. And tip the seniors who bag your groceries at the grocery store, they don't get paid.
